Dear Parents,

The Perry County School District will reopen schools for the 2020-21 school year. Students’ first day is August 6, 2020.

Even though school is opening, there are still some people who are sick from the virus. Health officials say that pandemic virus outbreaks sometimes happen in waves. This means more people could become sick soon again. Schools may need to close again if more people become ill. We will continue to provide you with the most vital and up-to-date information as soon as possible.

Because the virus can spread person-to-person, PLEASE KEEP CHILDREN WHO ARE SICK AT HOME! This is probably the most important thing you can do to slow the spread of the virus, so I say it again…. PLEASE KEEP CHILDREN WHO ARE SICK AT HOME! Until there is a vaccine people will continue to get the virus. We want to slow the spread so we don’t have a lot of students out at one time and we can keep our schools open to serve your child.

We will have a traditional school year. We want to keep things as normal as possible. But to be safe we have put some protocols in place to help slow the spread of the virus. We also have produced a list of questions and answers. Please read through the protocols, as well as, the questions and answers we have provided. We have posted this information to our school district website. If you do not have access to the internet you may pick up a copy at any of schools.

We are looking forward to seeing our students again. Please remain alert for any text, email or phone call from the school district and periodically check the school district’s website for updates.

Sincerely,

Scott Dearman, Ed. D.
