About Us

Perry County School District is a rural public school district headquartered in New Augusta, MS. It serves K–12 students across Perry County, including Beaumont, Runnelstown, and surrounding areas. The district comprises two elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, and a career and technical center, serving roughly 850 students.

In the 2024–25 academic year, the district moved up from a “C” to a “B” accountability rating. Perry Central High School and Runnelstown Elementary earned B’s, South Perry Elementary earned an A, and Perry Central Middle received a D.

  • Enrollment: Approximately 850 students with around 90 full-time teachers, yielding a student–teacher ratio close to 10:1  .
  • Demographics: ~28–29% Black students; ~66–70% White; and ~69% of students are eligible for free or reduced-price meals, indicating a high rate of economic disadvantage  .
  • State Funding: In 2024–2025, the district received approximately $6.42 million under Mississippi’s new Student Funding Formula
